Trail improvements approved for Hundred Acre Wood in Bellingham
The Bellingham City Council approved a bid from Faber Construction for trail improvements in the Hundred Acre Wood. The project will include narrowing and resurfacing trails, native planting, habitat fencing, and a new bridge crossing over Hoag’s Creek. Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Oliver stated that construction is expected to commence by the end of July and finish by February 2026. Faber Construction, known for its work in Whatcom County, recently completed projects like the James Street roundabout and the New People’s Bank in Fairhaven. The improvements are designed to enhance local recreational opportunities and promote biodiversity in the area.
The city aims to provide better facilities for residents and visitors, fostering a greater connection with nature. These upgrades are part of ongoing efforts to improve public spaces and encourage outdoor activities in the community. Overall, the project signifies a commitment to enhancing the natural environment and the recreational infrastructure of Bellingham.
