Man charged with first-degree murder following incident in Sedro-Woolley

Murray James Monroe, a 30-year-old resident of Sedro-Woolley, has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of a man on Dunbar Road. Deputies from the Skagit County Sheriff's Office discovered the victim's body in an outbuilding around 4 p. m. three days prior. A family member reported Monroe's confession and alarming intentions to authorities, prompting the 911 call.

After making another call to Tukwila Police, Monroe revealed he had killed a friend, which resulted in his arrest. Investigators determined that Monroe and the victim knew each other, adding a layer of complexity to the case. He remains in custody with bail set at $1 million. The Skagit County Coroner's Office has yet to confirm the victim's identity and cause of death. This incident raises concerns about community safety and mental health issues surrounding violent actions.
