Rite Aid stores in Whatcom County to close and reopen under CVS

Bellingham, WALocal News

Rite Aid's bankruptcy has prompted the closure of several locations in Whatcom County, which will reopen as CVS pharmacies. The Sehome Village Rite Aid will close on August 19, reopening as a CVS the next day. Subsequent closures include the Lynden location on September 14, Blaine's on September 21, and Ferndale's on September 24, each transitioning to CVS the following day. CVS spokesperson Amy Thibault stated that all prescriptions will be transferred automatically, ensuring a seamless transition for patients. Two Bellingham Rite Aid locations will remain operational for now but will see their pharmacies close in the near future.

Prescriptions from the Northwest Avenue location will transfer to CVS inside Target at Bellis Fair Mall on July 9, while Sunset Drive prescriptions will go to Sehome Village CVS on September 10. This significant restructuring follows Rite Aid's announcement earlier this year to keep stores open amid bankruptcy proceedings. The shift marks a notable change in the local pharmacy landscape, as CVS aims to expand its reach in the region.
