Bellevue was honored with the 2025 Frank Chopp Public Sector Champion award for its strong commitment to affordable housing. The Housing Development Consortium acknowledged the city's efforts, which include launching a dedicated Office of Housing. Bianca Siegl, the office's director, highlighted the goal of providing safe and stable homes for all residents. The updated Comprehensive Plan allows for the development of 35,000 homes primarily in transit-oriented areas over the next 20 years. The City Council aims to increase its Affordable Housing Strategy target to 5,700 new or preserved homes within a decade, representing a 128% increase over prior goals.

Additional land use code amendments support sustainable housing growth at various income levels. Bellevue's proactive measures align with the Consortium's mission to ensure safe and affordable housing for all. This recognition reinforces the city's role as a leader in housing advocacy and community engagement.
