Rideshare driver charged for sexually assaulting teen passenger

Martin Njoki, a 43-year-old rideshare driver in King County, faces serious charges of unlawful imprisonment and indecent liberties after allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl during a ride in Bellevue. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of February 17, when Njoki picked up the victim and convinced her to sit in the front seat. Throughout the ride, he made inappropriate comments, including asking if she would kiss him, before stopping a few blocks short of her home. Once stopped, he locked the door and made unwanted sexual advances, groping her before she managed to escape his vehicle. Njoki was arrested on April 10 following a thorough police investigation.

He is currently being held in King County Jail on a bail of $150,000. Bellevue Police are actively seeking additional victims who may have had similar experiences with Njoki, urging them to come forward. The case highlights ongoing concerns about safety in rideshare services, emphasizing the need for vigilance among passengers.
