On April 26, 2025, Kelsey Creek Farm Park in Bellevue will revive its beloved sheep shearing event, a celebration of a time-honored tradition that dates back to Central Asia around 3,500 B. C. Despite the use of modern electric shears, the fundamental process of shearing has remained consistent through the ages. The event, sponsored by Amazon, will take place from 11 a. m.

to 4 p. m. , offering a variety of engaging activities such as spinning demonstrations, children's activities, and pony rides. Attendees will gain insights into how each sheep produces six to ten pounds of wool annually, along with stories from professional shearers about their experiences. With free admission and food available for purchase, the event promises a delightful day for families.

Free parking and shuttle services will be provided from nearby Wilburton Park-and-Ride and Bannerwood Sports Park. This event not only showcases agricultural practices but also fosters community engagement and appreciation for local traditions.
