Bellevue has appointed Trisna Tanus as the new city attorney, following her eight-month stint in the acting role. Previously, she was the deputy city attorney and has garnered nearly ten years of legal experience with the city in various roles since joining in 2016. Tanus has a diverse background, having worked in both public and private sectors, which equips her with a comprehensive understanding of legal issues. City Manager Diane Carlson highlighted her collaborative leadership and legal acumen, affirming confidence in Tanus's ability to serve the community effectively. In her statement, Tanus expressed excitement about Bellevue's growth and her eagerness to contribute to the city's development.

She holds a juris doctor from the University of Washington and an architecture bachelor's degree from Washington State University. Tanus replaces Kathy Gerla, the former city attorney, who retired in May 2024. Her appointment comes at a crucial time as Bellevue continues to expand and face new legal challenges.
