BDA Breakfast Series Destination Bellevue

Bellevue, WALocal News

At the recent BDA Breakfast Series, Brad Jones, Executive Director of Visit Bellevue, presented a vision for boosting tourism in Bellevue. He outlined the collaborative efforts of three main agencies under the Bellevue Convention Center Authority, which include the Meydenbauer Center, Meydenbauer Center Theater, and Visit Bellevue. Together, they work to enhance the city's economic vitality and quality of life, with aspirations for the visitor economy to hit the billion-dollar mark by 2020. Jones emphasized the importance of crafting inspiring, memorable experiences that encourage visitors to return. By engaging visitors through social media and leveraging their genuine experiences, Bellevue aims to redefine its brand as a unique tourist destination.

He described a strategic marketing approach as a "rifle effect" rather than a "shotgun approach," targeting potential visitors through various channels. The initiative seeks to highlight Bellevue's unique culture, sense of place, and iconic attractions. Ultimately, the goal is to elevate Bellevue’s status beyond a quick stop for Seattle tourists and establish it as a destination in its own right.
