The City of Bellevue is preparing for a meaningful celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, highlighted by a lineup of events aimed at fostering community involvement. On January 17, Olympic medalist John Carlos, known for his iconic protest for civil rights at the 1968 Olympics, will deliver a keynote address at City Hall. This speech is intended to inspire participants to consider their contributions to building the "beloved community" envisioned by Dr. King.

On MLK Day, January 21, residents can participate in a tree planting at Eastgate Park, where volunteers will be provided with gloves, tools, and refreshments. The Crossroads Bellevue event will run from 11 a. m. to 3 p. m.
