Bellevue Family 4th and Four on the 4th Events Canceled

Bellevue, WALocal News

The Bellevue Family 4th and Four on the 4th events have been canceled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as health guidelines limit gatherings to under 50 people. Governor Inslee's "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order and the phased Safe Start Washington plan were pivotal in making this decision. The Bellevue Family 4th, a hallmark celebration that draws around 60,000 attendees for a day filled with entertainment, food, and a fireworks show accompanied by live music, will not take place this year. Event organizers from the City of Bellevue and Bellevue Downtown Association explored various options but concluded that any alternative would still pose a risk of large gatherings. Bellevue Downtown Association President Patrick Bannon highlighted that safety remains the top priority as the community seeks to bounce back from the pandemic.

The cancellation also affects the Four on the 4th dog jog, which is traditionally held on the morning of the main event. Organizers expressed gratitude for the strong community support and are optimistic about celebrating Independence Day in 2021. To stay informed about future events, residents are encouraged to sign up for email alerts from the Bellevue Downtown Association.
