Giving From the Heart Bellevue Arts Museum

Bellevue, WALocal News

Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) has made significant contributions to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic by collaborating with BloodWorks NW in a vital effort to boost blood donations. The museum became a pop-up donation center, successfully encouraging 236 donors to contribute blood, which will benefit 654 patients within the local area. In addition to this initiative, BAM prioritized the needs of children impacted by school closures by providing over 200 take-home art kits each week, culminating in the distribution of 6,000 craft kits by the end of July. Julia Sepulveda, BAM's Director of Special Events and Volunteers, highlighted that these kits have been well-received, with teachers noting them as a weekly highlight for many children. This creative response addressed the emotional challenges posed by the pandemic, demonstrating BAM's commitment to the cultural and emotional well-being of the community.

The museum’s proactive measures exemplify the art of giving back and the human capacity for kindness during adversity. By adapting to the needs of the community, BAM has positioned itself as a beacon of hope and creativity amidst the challenges of COVID-19. These efforts not only showcase the museum's resilience but also inspire others to contribute positively to their communities.
