Bellevue Arts Museum to Reopen Doors on Oct. 2

Bellevue, WALocal News

The Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) is poised to reopen on October 2, 2020, following its temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This reopening allows visitors to explore new exhibits while ensuring compliance with Washington's Safe Start plan and CDC guidelines. To enhance visitor safety, BAM has introduced a reservation requirement for visits and transitioned to a Pay-What-You-Can admission model, striving to make the museum accessible to all. During its closure, BAM actively contributed to the community by creating online experiences and hosting a blood drive in collaboration with BloodWorks NW. Executive Director Benedict Heywood noted the challenges faced by arts non-profits but expressed pride in maintaining staff employment and adapting to community needs.

The museum will hold members-only days on September 26 and 27 before the public opening. Highlighted exhibitions include "Making Architecture" by Stephen Holl and "The Last Supper" by Julie Green. BAM's reopening marks an important step in re-establishing its presence as a cultural hub in Bellevue.
