Bellevue, WALocal News

Bellevue's Al Fresco dining program, which has expanded outdoor dining spaces in parking stalls along Main Street, is set to conclude on September 18, 2022, as the city prepares for the fall season. Residents and businesses are encouraged to enjoy these spaces before they close and to complete a survey to provide feedback for the program's future. Patrick Bannon, president of the Bellevue Downtown Association, emphasized the importance of supporting small businesses, noting that al fresco dining became a popular summer activity. Mayor Lynne Robinson expressed enthusiasm for the outdoor dining spaces, viewing them as a vital part of the community's fabric. The city aims to gather insights from residents and visitors to inform enhancements to public spaces, citing previous surveys that revealed significant economic benefits.

More than 80% of respondents indicated that the patio areas made them more likely to return to Main Street. Jesse Canedo, chief economic development officer, highlighted the community's desire for more outdoor dining experiences as part of a broader initiative to actively program public spaces. The city invites restaurant operators to explore winter outdoor dining options to ensure continued support for local businesses.
