FOB Sushi to reopen Tuesday after closure over viral TikTok

Bellevue, WALocal News

FOB Sushi will reopen its Seattle and Bellevue locations on December 3, 2024, after a brief closure due to a viral TikTok review from food influencer Keith Lee that raised food safety concerns. The review showed a video that appeared to depict a worm in the sashimi. In response, the restaurant was inspected by Public Health – Seattle and King County, which confirmed no food code violations at the Seattle location. The management has committed to strict food safety protocols and reassured guests about their food preparation and storage practices. Keith Lee addressed the situation in a follow-up TikTok, stating he was unharmed and wished the restaurant well.

The initial review resulted in over 21 million views, demonstrating the significant impact of social media on local businesses. As FOB Sushi prepares to welcome back diners, it hopes to regain customer confidence and encourage patronage through improved transparency and commitment to food safety.
