Bellevue Launches Adopt-A-Street Program to Enhance Community Pride

Bellevue, WALocal News

The City of Bellevue is set to launch its Adopt-A-Street program on July 31, 2024, as part of the Keep Bellevue Beautiful initiative. This volunteer program encourages residents, families, businesses, and community organizations to take an active role in maintaining the cleanliness of city streets. Participants can adopt specific sections of streets and commit to litter removal at least four times per year over a minimum of two years. The city will provide essential supplies, including safety vests and trash bags, while Republic Services will facilitate the collection of litter. In the past year, over 500 volunteers successfully removed nearly 300 bags of litter during various community cleanups.

This new program aims to enhance neighborhood pride and promote a healthier environment by preventing waste from entering local waterways and protecting wildlife. By engaging the community in this initiative, Bellevue hopes to foster a culture of responsibility and civic engagement. The launch of Adopt-A-Street is seen as a positive step toward keeping Bellevue safe, clean, and enjoyable for all residents.
