Bellevue Hosts Family Event for National Night Out

Bellevue, WALocal News

Bellevue’s Police and Fire departments are gearing up to host a family-oriented event at Crossroads Park on August 6, 2024, as part of National Night Out. This annual initiative is designed to strengthen police-community partnerships and enhance neighborhood camaraderie. The festival will feature live music, food and ice cream trucks, a bouncy house, and various games for children, creating a fun atmosphere for families. Police Chief Wendell Shirley expressed the department's pride in serving the community and the importance of such events in building connections. Fire Chief Jay Hagen echoed this sentiment, highlighting the opportunity for residents to interact with first responders.

This year marks a slight shift, as Bellevue Police and Fire departments will host the event together rather than participating in individual block parties and cookouts. National Night Out is recognized across the United States, with millions of neighbors joining in to celebrate community safety and unity. The collaboration aims to ensure that Bellevue remains a safe and welcoming place to live, work, and visit.
