Bellevue has launched a partnership with Govstream. ai to pilot AI tools that aim to streamline the city's permitting process. This collaboration intends to improve efficiency and support housing and economic development goals while ensuring a user-friendly experience for residents. The pilot's initial phase will focus on assisting permitting staff in navigating complexities and providing consistent service. City Manager Diane Carlson stated that this initiative could significantly reduce the turnaround time for permit applications.

Govstream. ai specializes in responsible AI solutions and aims to simplify the permitting process by providing clear guidance for staff and applicants. Future phases of the project will explore additional opportunities to enhance the application review process. This collaboration could serve as a model for future technological partnerships, as highlighted by a recent City Council resolution. More details about the partnership will be unveiled at the Innovation Forum in October.
