Austin ISD Teacher Faces New Charges for AI-Generated Child Exploitation

Austin, TXLocal News

Carl Innmon, a teacher at Baranoff Elementary in Austin, is in legal trouble after being arrested for new charges related to AI-generated explicit content involving his students. The alarming situation unfolded when investigators discovered hundreds of thousands of images categorized as child sexual abuse material on devices seized from Innmon's residence. Principal Alex Hassett informed parents about the incident, emphasizing the school's commitment to safeguarding students. Although Innmon is not charged with possessing child pornography, he faces serious allegations related to the promotion of lewd visual material involving minors. Following his arrest on March 14, 2025, his bond was raised to $30,000, and he must adhere to strict conditions, including a prohibition on contact with children.

The police are collaborating with the school board to ensure a thorough investigation. A court date is set for April 10, 2025, where further legal proceedings will unfold. The case raises significant concerns about the use of AI in child exploitation and the responsibility of educational institutions in protecting their students.
