Austin, TXLocal News

The City of Austin and Austin Public Health (APH) are excited to announce the Fiesta de Salud Health Fair, set for September 21, 2024, at Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary School. This free event aims to inspire healthier lifestyles, particularly within Hispanic communities, by providing essential health resources and engaging activities. Attendees can expect a range of services, including immunizations and health screenings for all ages, with no barriers related to insurance or citizenship status. Austin Public Health Director Adrienne Sturrup highlighted the fair's role in addressing significant health disparities, noting that Black and Hispanic residents face higher risks for conditions like diabetes and heart disease. Last year's fair successfully provided over 125 families with food boxes and facilitated numerous vaccines and health screenings.

The event will also feature live entertainment, including performances from local dance groups, alongside fun family activities such as face painting and games. With a focus on community engagement, the Fiesta de Salud Health Fair is not just about health services; it's a celebration of well-being and cultural heritage. Everyone is encouraged to join in for a day of health, fun, and community spirit.
