The Barton Springs Pool in Austin is scheduled to reopen at 5 a. m. on September 19, following prompt repairs to two holes in an abandoned skimmer pipe that created safety concerns. The collaborative effort involved the City of Austin's Parks and Recreation Department, Austin Water, and Watershed Protection, who worked diligently to fix the issue while ensuring the protection of the local endangered salamanders. The repair strategy included filling the holes with gravel and concrete, with salamander biologists present to monitor the water levels during the construction.

On the same day, Deep Eddy Pool will also resume its regular operating hours, opening at 8 a. m.
