The City of Austin's Office of Sustainability has announced the distribution of $150,000 in funding to 50 local organizations through the Food and Climate Equity (FACE) Grants program. Each selected project will receive up to $3,000 to implement innovative solutions that promote food justice, climate equity, and community resilience. This program builds upon previous separate grants from the Offices of Sustainability and Resilience, streamlining the process for community leaders seeking funding. Chief Sustainability Officer Zach Baumer highlighted the initiative's role in fostering grassroots solutions to pressing challenges in Austin. The selected projects range widely, encompassing urban farming, sustainable food systems, and climate resilience planning.

Notably, the FACE Grants program aims to address systemic inequities and empower historically marginalized communities. Ebonie D. Trice, CEO of Mission Accomplished, shared how the grant will significantly increase their capacity to feed families in need. Similarly, KD Drackert from Clear the Air ATX emphasized the grant's potential to enhance community health initiatives and connectedness.
