UPDATE: APD Announces the Arrest of a Suspect in Connection to a 2021 Homicide Investigation

The Austin Police Department (APD) has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a 2021 homicide by arresting Mithovar Antoine Jr. for the murder of Nikolas Eugenio Martinez. On July 23, 2021, Martinez was fatally stabbed and managed to drive a short distance to a convenience store before succumbing to his injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an exhaustive investigation, a First-Degree Murder warrant was issued for Antoine on September 11, 2024.

He was located and arrested by the APD Tactical Intelligence Unit and the U. S. Marshals Service in Temple, Texas, and booked into the Bell County Jail. Antoine was later released on a $150,000 bond. This case was recorded as the 48th homicide in Austin for the year 2021, underscoring the city's ongoing challenges with violent crime.

The APD continues to encourage anyone with information about the case to come forward.
