Couple converts elementary school into 17,000-square-foot home

Atlanta, GALocal News

A couple in Cascade, Wisconsin, has made headlines by converting the old Cascade Elementary School into a remarkable 17,000-square-foot home, which is currently listed for $849,900. Oristela and Richard Aguinaga purchased the school in 2016 and initially utilized it for Richard's electronics business. After selling the business and their previous home, they decided to live in the school for the past year. The transformation includes five classrooms now serving as bedrooms while the bathrooms and gymnasium retain their original school features. The couple has embraced the nostalgic elements of the building, such as the cafeteria serving window in the kitchen that reminds them of school lunches.

With the property encompassing 18 acres and featuring 13 bathrooms, it is particularly suitable for larger families or those looking for multi-generational living options. Richard Aguinaga emphasized the unique living experience, stating, “It’s way more homey than you realize. ” This property is not just a home but a piece of local history, evoking fond memories for those who once roamed its halls.
