2 charged with murder in Paulding County natives shooting death at south Georgia bar, GBI says

Atlanta, GALocal News

Tsion Clayton, 23, and Kimone Green, 21, have been charged with malice murder in the shooting death of Brianna Long, who was fatally struck by a stray bullet in Remerton, Georgia, on October 29, 2023. Long, an employee at The Pier Bar, was closing for the night when gang-related violence erupted outside, injuring her and another man, who fortunately survived. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation highlighted that both suspects were targeting another individual in a gang dispute, underscoring the tragic reality that innocent bystanders can become victims of such violence. In addition to their murder charges, Clayton and Green are part of a larger racketeering indictment involving seven individuals linked to the Valdosta gang known as 528, which is accused of various crimes including murder and robbery. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr emphasized the significant impact of gang violence on the Valdosta community, stating that it has led to multiple deaths in recent years, including that of Long.

Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Bradfield M. Shealy echoed these sentiments, stressing that gang violence affects not only gang members but also innocent community members. The GBI continues to seek justice for Long and aims to address the ongoing gang violence troubling the region. This case brings to light the urgent need for community safety and intervention against gang-related activities in Georgia.
