AI-powered crimefighting dog 'Beth' patrols Atlanta apartment complex

Atlanta, GALocal News

The 445 Cleveland apartment complex in Atlanta has taken a significant step towards enhancing public safety by introducing 'Beth,' an AI-powered robotic dog. Equipped with advanced technology such as 360-degree cameras and a siren, Beth's role is to patrol the premises and deter crime. Spearheaded by Councilman Antonio Lewis, this initiative aims to support, not replace, traditional police work. Beth is monitored in real-time by an operator in Bogotá, Colombia, ensuring a human touch in security management. Integrated with over 30 stationary cameras, Beth can respond to incidents within 60 seconds.

Developed by local Atlanta company Undaunted, this system is economically advantageous, costing about one-third of other AI security solutions. Councilman Lewis hopes that Beth's presence will encourage community engagement and job-seeking behavior among local youth, with residents expressing enthusiasm for this innovative approach to safety, which is set to be fully operational by the year's end.
