Water main break near Moury Avenue, Jonesboro Road repaired

Atlanta, GALocal News

The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management addressed a significant water main break at the intersection of Moury Avenue and Jonesboro Road, which occurred late Friday morning. Crews responded quickly and worked aggressively to repair a 24-inch water main that affected the local service area. After the repairs, residents were informed that they might encounter air in their water lines or discolored water. To resolve these issues, the department provided clear instructions on flushing cold water lines by running taps for about five minutes or until the water runs clear. It is advised that residents begin at the lowest faucet in their homes and move to the highest, ensuring all water lines are cleared.

Additionally, it is crucial to flush refrigerator water lines. This water main break and its prompt repair highlight the city's commitment to maintaining its water infrastructure and providing safe, clean water to residents. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges municipalities face in managing aging infrastructure.
