A fallen tree caused a significant disruption on Briarcliff Road in DeKalb County on August 26, 2024. The incident occurred when the tree brought down power lines and sparked a small fire shortly after 4 p. m. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and successfully extinguished the flames without further incident. Both lanes of Briarcliff Road were reopened by 5 p. m. , allowing traffic to resume. In terms of power outages, several hundred customers were initially affected, but Georgia Power managed to restore service to all but 50 customers within an hour. By 6:30 p.
