Slutty Vegan owner owes 87,000 in back rent, lawsuit claims

Atlanta, GALocal News

An Atlanta landlord has filed a lawsuit against Slutty Vegan, alleging the company owes over $87,000 in unpaid rent and associated fees for two retail spaces. The complaint, lodged by an affiliate of Asana Partners in Fulton County State Court, claims Aisha “Pinky” Cole’s businesses failed to fulfill their lease obligations on Edgewood Avenue. The leases were reassigned to SV Franchise LLC in July, with Cole named as the authorized representative, but court documents reveal that SV Franchise LLC did not pay past due amounts. Slutty Vegan Inc. recently underwent an assignment for the benefit of creditors, a state-level alternative to bankruptcy.

Currently, five Slutty Vegan locations remain operational, though a planned location at the Atlanta airport has been shelved. Cole has publicly discussed her financial challenges earlier this year, indicating plans for “Slutty Vegan 2. 0. ” The lawsuit highlights the ongoing financial struggles faced by the popular vegan restaurant chain, which began as a food truck in 2018. Despite the setbacks, Slutty Vegan has expanded to 14 locations at its peak.
