Native son Tom Brooks passes away

Dr. Tom Brooks, a prominent Anacortes family doctor and military veteran, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 99. His memorial service is set for June 28 at the First Baptist Church in Anacortes. Brooks was born on February 20, 1926, and served in the Army during World War II before graduating from the University of Washington with an M. D.

in 1954. He took over his father's medical practice in Anacortes, delivering numerous babies and serving as a mentor at the University of Washington. His legacy includes a close-knit family with four children, ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, reflecting his deep community roots. Brooks was recognized for his contributions to local health initiatives and was a founding member of the Bank of Anacortes. His commitment to the community extended beyond medicine, as he participated in various volunteer efforts.

He is remembered for his kindness and dedication to family and friends.
