An Anacortes man lost $600 to a Facebook Marketplace scam while trying to sell a gaming laptop. After sending the laptop to a buyer in Florida, he was informed that the buyer could not send the money via PayPal, leading to the man losing his funds. Officers documented the scam and explained its commonality. In another case, a woman reported a stolen package from her building, which officers also recorded. They responded to a potential domestic dispute but discovered that no physical altercation had taken place, as the individuals involved were merely playing a video game.

Additionally, officers cleared a roadway of a mother duck and her duckling to ensure safety. The police provided case numbers for the incidents to assist in follow-up. Each case highlights ongoing community concerns regarding scams and public safety.
