Viewpoint dedication April 16

Anacortes, WALocal News

The highly anticipated Rotary Viewpoint at Cap Sante is poised to welcome the public on April 16, with barrier tapes coming down tomorrow. This project is a testament to the dedication of Anacortes Rotary members, who have volunteered over 1,200 hours to improve the area, including the removal of potential fire hazards like dead trees and scotch broom. While road access will be temporarily restricted during the opening event, transportation will be facilitated with van rides from the Anacortes Yacht Club, and adventurous visitors can hike up from the Rotary Trail. The collaboration includes key partners such as Rotary, the City of Anacortes, Strandberg Construction, and Pacific Landscape Architecture, underscoring a strong community effort. The new viewpoint is expected to enhance recreational opportunities and provide breathtaking vistas of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands.

This initiative not only enriches the local environment but also fosters a sense of community pride and engagement. The project reflects Anacortes' commitment to preserving its natural assets while providing spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy. As the opening approaches, excitement builds for what promises to be a significant addition to the area's scenic offerings.
