Eagle Scout at age 12
Paul Matzko, an 8th grader, earned his Eagle Scout rank at the age of 12, making him a standout among local youth. He aims to complete every merit badge available before he turns 18, having already achieved 10 of the 12 merit badges required beyond the standard 21 for Eagle rank. At a recent Court of Honor, he was awarded both Bronze and Gold Eagle Palms, reflecting his dedication to scouting. For his Eagle project, Matzko built two lending libraries at Fidalgo Elementary, collecting books from teachers and donating from his personal library. He also visited classrooms to educate students about scouting and the libraries' purpose.
His efforts not only promote literacy but also foster community engagement through scouting initiatives. Matzko's story exemplifies the positive influence of youth programs in local areas. Congratulations are in order for his accomplishments and generous contributions to the community.
