Second vote count shows no changes in candidate positions
Dr. Joe Mulcahy continues to lead incumbent Chip Bogosian by a margin of two-to-one in the race for Island Hospital District. As Proposition 1, which aims to convert the Fidalgo Pool Recreation District into a Metropolitan Recreation District, faces defeat with 57% voting against it, none of the candidates for the new district's five positions will be seated. Mayoral candidate Ryan Walters is receiving 505 write-in votes despite having no challengers. In another race, Luke Currier is ahead of Teresa Delarosa, capturing 69% of the votes compared to Delarosa's 31%.
Incumbent Carolyn Moulton also leads her challenger, Courtney Orrock, with 62% of the votes. Both Bruce McDougall and Anthony Young will retain their seats unopposed, although they have received write-in votes. Skagit County has counted a total of 20,742 votes thus far, with an estimated 14,000 votes remaining to be counted. The outcomes of these races could significantly influence local governance and community services.
