Second 'No Kings' Protest in Anacortes draws a big crowd
Anacortes witnessed a large protest on Saturday, drawing at least 2,000 residents against President Trump’s administration as part of the second "No Kings" day. Non-violent protestors crowded Commercial Avenue, displaying signs with messages like “No Kings, No Fascist King Clowns. ” The event was part of a broader movement, with organizers expecting millions of Americans to engage in similar peaceful demonstrations nationwide. Local police maintained a presence but allowed the protest to proceed without interference. Some participants contributed to traffic delays by driving along Commercial Avenue after leaving the rally.
This protest follows the first No Kings day, which coincided with Trump’s military parade on his 79th birthday. It also highlights the ongoing federal government shutdown, which began on October 1 and remains unresolved. More than 2,600 demonstrations occurred across the country, from major cities to smaller towns.
