Anacortes Police arrested a middle school student for making verbal threats to commit violence, specifically threatening to "shoot up a school with an AK-47. " The juvenile faces charges for two felony threats to bomb or injure property, as well as harassment. The police investigation began on September 18 after a fellow student reported the threats. Anacortes Police spokesman Brent Lindquist noted the critical role of students and parents in reporting such incidents. Officers conducted interviews with students, parents, and staff to gather information.

Authorities found no evidence that the suspect had access to firearms or maintained a "kill list. " This incident highlights ongoing concerns about school safety in the community.
