Boy shot outside Tacoma's Lincoln High School

A shooting outside Lincoln High School in Tacoma injured one teen and prompted a lockdown on Tuesday afternoon, occurring just before the school day ended. Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired on South 37th Street, with the victim managing to reach a nearby business where help was called. Tacoma Police are investigating whether the individuals involved were students, as students expressed shock and fear over the incident. A school staff member initiated a 911 call after hearing gunfire, leading to a modified lockdown of the school for safety. Counselors were made available to support students and staff in the aftermath.

One senior noted the incident was traumatizing for everyone present, especially with graduation scheduled for the following day. The police have not yet apprehended the suspect and are asking for public assistance. Community members are relieved that no additional injuries were reported.
