Peninsula School District buys 20 acres of land in Purdy for $6.2 million

The Peninsula School District has made a significant move by purchasing 20. 42 acres of land in Purdy for $6. 2 million, adjacent to Peninsula High School, to address the needs of its aging facilities. The acquisition is part of ongoing discussions about future educational developments in the district. The purchase was financed through interest from a $198.

55 million bond passed in 2019, which primarily funded new elementary schools and upgrades to existing facilities. District spokesperson Danielle Chastaine noted that while specific projects are not immediately planned, the potential uses for the land are extensive. A Long Range Facilities Advisory Board has been established to evaluate options for the land's utilization. School board president Natalie Wimberley emphasized the unique opportunity presented by this sizable parcel in a rapidly growing area, with a comprehensive plan expected to emerge from the ongoing evaluation by the end of the academic year.
