Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the completion of the sport court renovations at Underhill Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025. Dignitaries such as Mayor Brown and youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will attend the event. The renovation included two basketball courts, two pickleball courts, new sidewalks, and lighting, all finished on schedule and within budget. Funding for the project was provided by City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and contributions from local sponsors like Spokane Hoopfest Association. If the Parks & Recreation levy passes in November, every sport court in Spokane will undergo similar renovations.

This initiative aims to enhance park functionality and safety, addressing community requests for better-maintained recreational spaces. Garrett Jones, director of Parks & Recreation, emphasized the importance of creating welcoming environments for all ages and abilities. The project reflects the city's commitment to improving the health and quality of life for its residents.
