Injured climber plucked from peak in daring rescue near Snoqualmie Pass

A climber was rescued following a serious fall on Guye Peak near Snoqualmie Pass on January 19, 2025, in a dramatic multi-agency operation. Eastside Fire & Rescue coordinated efforts with the Snoqualmie Pass Fire District 51 and King County Search and Rescue to extract the injured individual. Despite the severe circumstances, the victim remained alert and was able to communicate with the rescue teams, facilitating a quicker response. The King County Sheriff’s Office Air Support, utilizing the Guardian 2 helicopter, provided critical aerial assistance. Video footage captured the moment a crewmember was lowered to the ground via cable to secure the victim, who was strapped onto a board for safe transport.

Once secured, both the climber and the crewmember were hoisted into the helicopter, highlighting the efficiency of the operation. The rescue was completed by approximately 5:30 PM, and the helicopter successfully landed at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further medical care. This incident underscores the importance of swift response and collaboration among various rescue teams in wilderness emergencies.
