Learn About Yard Tree Giveaway's Registration Ambassadors

Portland, ORLocal News

Urban Forestry aims to distribute 4,000 trees in Portland via its Yard Tree Giveaway program, partnering with community organizations known as Registration Ambassadors. These ambassadors, which include groups like Somali Oregon Service Center, advocate for green infrastructure and serve a diverse population. Throughout the summer, they promoted the program and conducted tree-selection sessions in August, facilitating direct interaction with Urban Forestry arborists. Nearly 100 community members participated, with 67% of trees slated for SE Portland, underscoring the initiative's focus on historically underserved areas. This effort not only aims to improve urban biodiversity but also to promote community engagement and education on the benefits of trees.

The Arbor Day Foundation supports the initiative, emphasizing the importance of trees in neighborhoods. Urban Forestry encourages residents to sign up for free trees to contribute to a greener Portland. The project reflects an ongoing commitment to ecological stewardship and community health.
