A housing project thats been five years in the making officially breaks ground
Scriber Place broke ground in Lynnwood, Washington, creating 52 affordable housing units for students and families of the Edmonds School District. This project, located on surplus district land, has a total development cost of $38. 7 million and aims for completion by December 2026. Housing Hope CEO Kathryn Opina stated that accessible housing is crucial for the well-being of schools and families. Last school year, the district identified 820 McKinney-Vento students, underlining the pressing need for housing assistance.
ESD Homeless Coordinator Francisco Gonzalez Robles noted the challenges of meeting community housing demands. Local officials, including Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell, expressed their commitment to providing housing solutions for all community members. The project is the first of its kind in Washington state and serves as a model for future developments. Scriber Place reflects a collaborative effort among Housing Hope, the Edmonds School District, and other agencies to tackle homelessness and housing insecurity.
