Former sheriff and wife launch new nonprofit to empower struggling youth in Snohomish County

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Lead The Way Foundation, founded by former Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney and his wife, Jill, seeks to uplift local youth facing challenges. Inspired by a successful program Fortney initiated during his sheriff tenure from 2020 to 2023, the foundation will launch its first program on October 8. This eight-week course will focus on leadership development and personal resilience, taking place at the Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center in Everett. Each weekly session will include interactive classes, guest speakers, and discussions on important topics like accountability and social media pressures. Jill Fortney highlighted the foundation's mission to provide compassionate support and mentorship for teens, emphasizing that the program will encourage connection and growth.

The initiative aims to address the struggles many young people experience in the community. Open to Snohomish County residents aged 13 to 17, registration is limited, urging early sign-ups. This program represents a proactive step towards fostering a supportive environment for local youth.
