More than 1,400 customers receive free energy-efficient appliances through state program, PUD says
Snohomish County PUD effectively distributed free energy-efficient appliances to 1,429 households, leveraging $5. 3 million from the state's Climate Commitment Act. The HEAR program specifically targeted customers at or below 80% of the area median income, ensuring accessibility for low-income households. Eligible participants received various appliances, including washer/dryer sets, induction stovetops, and heat pump water heaters. The selection process considered factors such as income, energy consumption, and home ownership status.
Local appliance retailers played a crucial role in the distribution, fostering collaboration within the community. PUD chief customer officer John Hoffman highlighted the program's potential to reduce energy costs for years. Tom Hagar, President of Washington Water Heaters, noted the program's positive impact on contractors and customers alike. The HEAR initiative represents a significant commitment to energy efficiency and community support in Washington.
