Lynnwood, WALocal News

ArtsFund and Allen Family Philanthropies announced $10 million in grants to 930 arts organizations, the largest cohort in the Community Accelerator Grant program's history. Recipients from South Snohomish County include Ballyhoo Theatre and the Cascade Symphony Orchestra, awarded $25,000 and $12,500, respectively. The funding, which ranges from $2,500 to $25,000, addresses ongoing needs within the arts sector, with 19% of recipients being first-time grantees. Approximately 74% of the awarded organizations reported annual budgets under $500,000, underscoring the importance of accessible funding for smaller nonprofits. ArtsFund CEO Michael Greer noted that well-resourced arts organizations enhance community livability, fostering economic opportunities and social cohesion.

The program has now provided a total of $30 million in unrestricted funding since its launch in 2023. Participation has increased across Washington, with grants awarded to organizations in all 39 counties, including 41% of federally recognized tribes. Grantees cited programming, salaries, and facility upgrades as their primary funding needs, reflecting the diverse challenges faced by the arts community.
