Lynnwood, WA dad arrested after 4 year old accidentally shoots mom

A Lynnwood man, 44, was arrested on Wednesday after his 4-year-old son accidentally shot his 42-year-old mother. The incident occurred around 8:01 a. m. when deputies responded to reports of an assault with a weapon in the 3100 block of 164th St SW. Upon arrival, they found the mother with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to her upper left arm, while the child sustained minor injuries.

Investigators revealed the boy retrieved the loaded firearm from his father, who was asleep on the couch at the time. Authorities discovered multiple unsecured firearms throughout the home, raising concerns about safety and responsible gun ownership. The father now faces charges of reckless endangerment and unlawful storage of a firearm. The couple's two children, ages 4 and 9, were placed with other family members after the incident. This case emphasizes the critical need for secure firearm storage to prevent accidents involving children.
