Sponsor spotlight What parenthood is teaching me about collective care

The Edmonds Food Bank is set to launch a baby formula drive from August 6 to August 13, aimed at supporting local parents facing food insecurity. Last year's campaign raised over $2,700 in just three days, highlighting the community's willingness to help one another. Staff member Kellie Lewis recounts poignant experiences while volunteering, including moments of connection with mothers and their children during food distributions. As food prices continue to climb and federal assistance dwindles, the need for support has never been more critical. The food bank collaborates with the Latino Educational Training Institute to distribute food biweekly, strengthening community ties.

Lewis believes that shared experiences of motherhood cultivate empathy and collective action among community members. Donations can be made via Venmo, an Amazon Wishlist, or in person at the food bank or local market. The drive aims to alleviate the burden on families and reinforce the importance of community support during challenging times.
