Ben Wolters selected as Lynnwood Development and Business Services director

Lynnwood City Council confirmed Ben Wolters as the new Development and Business Services Director, taking over from David Kleitsch, who retires after 25 years with the city. Wolters has been the Economic Development Manager since 2021 and has prior experience with the Seattle Department of Transportation, Kent, and Renton. He expressed excitement about leading the department and addressing the community's challenges in a press release. Mayor Christine Frizzell commended Wolters for his wealth of knowledge and understanding of the city's goals. His educational background includes a master’s degree in international economics and certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional.

Wolters also actively volunteers for organizations focused on housing and job initiatives. This leadership change comes as Lynnwood faces expansive growth and evolving community needs. The city aims to become a regional model for sustainability and vibrancy under Wolters' guidance.
