Public invited to engine push-in ceremony at Lynnwood Civic Center fire station July 21
South County Fire will celebrate the arrival of its newest fire engine with a push-in ceremony on July 21 at 9:30 a. m. at the Lynnwood Civic Center Fire Station. Attendees will help push the engine into the station, honoring a tradition rooted in the 1830s when firefighters used horse-drawn vehicles. This new fire engine can carry 700 gallons of water, offering firefighters more time to combat fires before needing to rely on external water sources.
The design prioritizes quick response in an increasingly urban environment. Ordered in 2022, the engine's delivery faced nearly three years of delays due to ongoing supply chain disruptions from the pandemic. South County Fire operates 15 neighborhood fire stations, collectively serving nearly 300,000 residents in Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, and surrounding areas. This event highlights the community's support for local emergency services and their commitment to enhancing firefighting capabilities. The push-in ceremony underscores the importance of fire service in urban areas, emphasizing both tradition and modern needs.
