Labor Day closures and service adjustments

Most City offices in Fort Worth will close on Labor Day, September 1, while emergency services will remain operational. Solid waste collections—including garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk—will continue as scheduled, but the City’s Drop-Off Stations and Environmental Collection Center will be closed. All Fort Worth libraries, community centers, and the Haws Athletic Center will also close for the holiday. In contrast, recreational amenities such as golf courses and the Fort Worth Botanic Garden will remain open. The two animal shelters will be closed, but PetSmart adoption centers at Hulen and Alliance will be open from 9 a.

m. to 5 p. m. on Labor Day. For water utility needs, residents can access the 24-hour call center at 817-392-4477.

Public transit services will operate on modified schedules, with Trinity Metro buses following Sunday schedules and some services like the Trinity Railway Express not in operation. The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9.
