City Council to hold public hearing Nov. 12 on co-living housing code update

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds City Council will hold a public hearing on Nov. 12 regarding updates to the co-living housing code, following state House Bill 1998's requirements on unit size and parking. Examples of co-housing include boarding houses and residences with shared facilities. The council will also revisit the cultural access sales tax proposal, estimated to generate $1. 3 million annually for up to seven years, aimed at funding nonprofit programs in science, heritage, and the arts.

The decision to postpone approval came after a public hearing on Aug. 19 garnered significant support from local arts advocates. Furthermore, the council will discuss the Edmonds Planning Board’s recommendation for updating the critical areas ordinance, which protects streams, wetlands, and other environmentally sensitive areas as mandated by the Growth Management Act. This act requires that development regulations be based on the best available scientific information. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.

m. at the Public Safety Complex, with options to participate via Zoom or phone. The complete agenda is available on the Council meeting webpage.
